Setting up Digi Devices with DHCP

Digi PortServer devices work in a Veriteq system by connecting a data logger to your Ethernet network. The Digi is configured with an IP address and then a driver is installed on your computer that associates that IP address with a COM port on the computer. The Veriteq software then communicates through that COM port to the logger.

The Digi device needs to keep the same IP address in order for the Veriteq software to be able to maintain uninterrupted communication with the attached logger. The best way to ensure this is to configure the Digi with a static IP address. If you do not have a static IP address with which to configure your Digi device, your other option is to reserve an address in DHCP. Please contact your IT department for assistance in setting up DHCP reservations.

Basic DHCP (dynamic IP assignment) is not recommended since it is possible for an IP assigned by DHCP to change. This will disrupt communications between the Digi device and its driver, and prevent you from communicating with the attached data logger.
