Veriteq announces A2LA Calibration Lab Accreditation for ISO/IEC 17025

July 18, 2003 - Veriteq announced today that its calibration laboratory has been approved for ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA).

According to the Accreditation Certificate, Veriteq's temperature and humidity calibration lab:

  • "...meets the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025-1999 "General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories"
  • "...operates in accordance with ISO 9001 or ISO 9002 (1994)", and
  • "...meets the requirements of ANSI/NCSL Z540-1-1994"

"The A2LA accreditation process has been long in coming but it is a big step for Veriteq and our customers", says Kevin Bull, Veriteq's President. "We are committed to being a leader in temperature and humidity accuracy, and this step is a reflection of that commitment." Bull adds that Veriteq has invested heavily in its calibration facilities over the years and feels that its lab "is one of the, if not the, best for temperature and humidity calibrations in western North America."

"Calibration is one of the most important elements of a quality measurement and recording system", adds Wlad Nefedow, Veriteq's Quality Assurance Manager. "Through this accreditation, we are able to not only ensure the greatest possible confidence in the measurement integrity of our data logger calibrations, but also to provide a high level of validation of Veriteq's hardware and software performance."

ISO (International Organization for Standardization) / IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) 17025 is an internationally recognized quality standard that sets out the general requirements for the competence of calibration and testing laboratories. According to the introduction to the standard, it contains "all of the requirements that testing and calibration laboratories have to meet if they wish to demonstrate that they operate a quality system, are technically competent, and are able to generate technically valid results."

ANSI (American National Standards Institute) / NCSL (National Conference of Standards Laboratories) Z540-1-1994 ("Calibration Laboratories and Measuring and Test Equipment - General Requirements") has been an American National Standard since 1994. Part I of Z540-1 is based on the ISO/IEC Guide 25. Part II of Z540-1 is based on MIL-STD 45662A and was included to meet U.S. Department of Defense requirements.
