Fail-Safe Refrigerator & Freezer Monitoring

  • How can our facility, hospital, lab or blood/tissue bank monitor and record temperature in our refrigerators and freezers without a lot of expense or trouble?
  • How can we automate our manual temperature collection processes to minimize the chance of a system failure or loss of critical products?
  • How can we get immediate notification when a temperature problem arises rather than finding out after the damage is done?
  • How can we make sure we never lose data or have to explain gaps in our records?

These questions and more were the basis behind the development of viewLinc—Veriteq's Refrigerator and Freezer monitoring system solution.

Overview

In both regulated and non-regulated environments, low temperature storage areas must be verified and accurate records maintained. Process auditing can be performed by internal QA staff or by external parties.

For hospitals and blood/tissue banks, organizations such as the FDA, AABB, or the JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations) inspect facilities from time to time to ensure compliance with regulations and GMP/GLP.

The Challenge

A common approach to monitoring refrigerators and freezers is to schedule personnel to perform regular manual temperature checks. This requires time-consuming protocols to ensure the information is collected regularly.

An alternative solution is to install a hard-wired and dedicated central monitoring and alarming system that can be viewed from a PC, and will send notification to pager, PC or cell phone. However, typical monitoring systems can be cost prohibitive, are often designed only for large operations, and require specialized knowledge or personnel to install and maintain.

The Solution

Veriteq’s viewLinc monitoring and alarming system—utilizing highly accurate temperature recorders—is easy-to-install, reliable and cost-effective.

Using WiFi, PoE or an existing Ethernet network, Veriteq's refrigerator and freezer monitoring solution automates the task of monitoring temperature, providing 24/7 coverage while minimizing labor costs.

Whether you are just monitoring one or two fridges, or several hundred, self-powered, standalone data recorders take up-to-the-minute samples, and store records. viewLinc will monitor and display all recorders and alert you to the first sign of a problem.

No Data Gaps

A key to Veriteq's refrigerator and freezer monitoring solution is the reliability of its data recorders. Data is recorded directly at each location then remotely and automatically backed up to one or more network PC's on a regular basis.

When problems occur with network communications or building power systems, temperature data can always be retrieved directly at each data recorder, which always contains the latest data in its internal memory.

The ability of the data loggers to operate in conjunction with—and independently of—network operation, provides the highest degree of data protection and security.
