System Operation
Series 1700 Thermocouple dataloggers record low-level millivolt thermocouple
signals. The system automatically processes these signals and references
them to the logger's on-board cold junction temperature sensor to
produce accurate temperature readings. Two types of Series 1700 dataloggers
are available: The narrow range "N" series provides high
precision and exceptional low-temperature performance; the wide range
"W" series provides a broader temperature measurement range
ideal for high temperature applications. The following two charts
detail the input specifications , measurement ranges, and rated accuracies
of these two series of units.

Connection Diagram
Connecting thermocouple probes using an 1700-51N/51W logger:

To connect a typical two-wire probe, attach the red lead to one of
the logger's two common (COM) input terminals. Attach the other probe
lead to a channel input (CH1, CH2, CH3 or CH4)
